The Home Stretch

I haven't posted in a while, mostly because I have been frustrated with the apartment. My furniture arrived damaged and it put a damper on my mood. I decided to accept it as-is because I didn't have the energy to deal with the return/exchange process. But then I changed my mind, and asked for another. The store rep said I can take the display but I asked her to inspect it first, and she said "Oh this one is cracked too. Do you want to come in and see if you want this one instead?" No. I don't. Please order me another.

10 days pass and still no word. I called on the 11th day, and the rep said "I was wondering why it hadn't arrived yet; let me look into this and I'll call you back in a few minutes." That was two days ago.

Anyway, aside from the inferior quality and fact that I paid good money for broken furniture, I really like the pieces. I am going to be patient while I sort out the replacement process.

And next weekend is my housewarming. To my surprise, everyone that I invited RSVP'ed. That makes me very happy. And I got a lot done this weekend! I found a bed, and an AWESOME accent chair. It's beautiful, and sort of art deco. I'm excited to plop my bottom onto it. I pick up both pieces on Wednesday. I have tons of food prep to do this week. I need to finish cleaning out all my boxes.

So this week, I will pickup and assemble my furniture, finish cleaning out all my boxes, hang 15 wall pieces, put up my curtains, and do all the finishing touches. Luckily, I made quite a bit of progress this weekend. Anyone who walks into my place will think it was burglarized (as I did when I returned home from errands yesterday).

I also need to find myself a butter dish...and coasters, both of which have been surprisingly difficult to find.

Pictures are to come...as soon as I find my camera.
